Tarc is proposing to decrease the frequency of most routes, to make up for budget shortfalls. Here's the short list of routes that have zero proposed cuts:
Everything else is getting cut. Wow. Even the mighty #4 4th Street bus is getting the axe, for many years the pride of the system with 12 minute headways.
There will be many public meetings to discuss the changes, and these aren't set in stone.
My 2c: eliminate the hopelessly slow #1 trolley circulator, put that driver in a real #4 bus, and consider routing the southbound #4 along 3rd instead of 6th. The #1 doesn't really work with 4th Street Live closing the street all the time, walking is time-competitive. The route duplicates existing service 1 block away. Yeah, the trolleys have personality, but personality isn't worth the mobility hit.

We cannot let them cut the buses anymore. This is total BS - People need the bus system to get to and from work and this is a time when people are riding transit more and more. It just doesn't make any sense to me.
CART needs to stand up. I say we hold a rally.
Tarc Cuts
After living in many cities much smaller than Louisville, it amazes me that we cannot find the money to expand, not cut the size of our bus routes. Many of us don't want/ or choose not to own a car due to saving money or to save the environment. Louisville government claims it has no say so in how TARC operates, not is it willing to find more funding for transit in these hard times. So much for Louisville being the "Its Possible Here" city!

Well, I'd be happy to talk about this idea, but even with my super-administrator powers I can't figure out who you are, Anonymous.
