Let's get this train a'rollin'!

The time to contribute money to transit is now. We can take a major step towards improved regional transportation around Louisville. Through the tireless efforts of Metro Council, KIRA, and CART, we are very close to operating two exciting demonstrations:

  1. An "inspection train" on the Paducah & Louisville track, going from downtown Louisville out to Elizabethtown KY, a model of what a commuter rail line could look like on that corridor.
  2. A city-to-city bus ride back to Louisville aboard a Miller Transportation's bus, a model for a better way of connecting Kentucky's cities.

We only need to raise $1600 to cover half the cost of the insurance, and this trip will become a reality. Because seating is very limited, the passengers will be various public officials - mainly Metro Council - which is fine because they have the power and clout to take the next step on the process.

This is exactly the first step rail activists took towards creating the Music City Star in Nashville. Finally, a chance to make a difference in Louisville's transportation future. Donate today!

Confirmed: Metro Council President Jim King has agreed to Council matching our private contributions dollar for dollar!

Demonstration commuter rail on the P&L line

It's about time something concrete is done to demonstrate that this community needs and wants rail other than doing the usual ole Louisville thing - that is let's just blah, blah, blah it ot study it to death. While many may diss what Nashville has accomplished with it's one dollar per car rolling stock (semi-donated equipment )from the CTA, a very smart low cost start up solution, at least it now has commuter rail to show for it.

It doesn't take brilliance, it does take a lot of umph and hutzspah, or like the Nike mantra goes ...... JUST DO IT ! ! !  Guess what brainyaks of the world, it you just want to talk it to death, sign up for a roundtable or some flakey forum., and le't see how far that takes us, yet again.

Sadly when contrasted with our present status, Louisville once had vibrant and thriving commuter rail, even elevated electric trains covering a wide swath of the city. Historically we're more than willing to let it all remain exactly there: crumbled in the forgotten past.

For those of you thinking "What are you talkiing about ?" Simply type in your searchbox - Louisville's Elevated Rail & Electric Trains.  You too will be astonished with what we once had in this city.
